MSA Best Paper Award – Nominator Guidelines (2026)

Panel chairs may nominate one paper from their panel if you think it is outstanding and suitable for publication. Please do NOT feel compelled to nominate. Please nominate only if you think the paper is or has the potential to be published in Memory Studies. 

Who is eligible?

• Junior scholars without a PhD (or equivalent) who present at the MSA Annual Conference.

Purpose of the Award

• To recognize exceptional conference papers by junior scholars that are suitable for publication in Memory Studies.

Role of Nominators

• Please nominate only one outstanding paper.

• Submit your nomination within two weeks after the MSA Conference in Buenos Aires.

• Please include the name of nominated, title of paper, panel # and email addres of the author(s).

• Email your nomination to daniel.levy@stonybrook.edu.

Next Steps (for nominated candidates)

• The MSA Executive Committee (EC) will contact nominees.

• Nominees must submit:

  • A written version of their paper (max 3,000 words)

  • Any slides or audiovisual material used in the presentation

  • Deadline: August 31, 2026

Review & Outcome

• The EC will appoint a jury based on submission topics.

• The winner will be announced by 15 November 2026.

• The winning paper will be developed into an article for the 2026 special issue of Memory Studies.
