The conference is bilingual Spanish and English, with panels in English, panels in Spanish and some dual-lingual panels.
As part of our commitment to increasing the international visibility of research produced in Latin America, we have decided to feature mixed language panels. We see this as an important opportunity to bring highly relevant scholarship to a broader international audience beyond the Spanish-speaking community. For the same reason, we warmly encourage speakers in Spanish-language panels to make an English translation of their presentation available whenever possible. Please understand this as an invitation to engage in a broader dialogue with scholars from around the world.
The language of each panel will be indicated in the program with EN, ES or EN/ES in case of mixed panels. Simultaneous translation will only be available for the plenary sessions and one semi-plenary session conducted in Spanish.
If you are on a dual-language panel, please present the information on your slides in English or in English & Spanish.
Think of ways of designing your PowerPoint to help non-native speakers to follow your argument.
We highly recommend: make a translation of your presentation available beforehand (with the help of an automatic translation programme if needed).

The file maximum size is 5MB, and the allowed formats are: pdf, ppt, doc, docx, jpg, pptx, and png.
If you are using PowerPoint, consider enabling voice transcription.
In the same spirit, whether you are speaking in English or in Spanish, please speak at a pace that is considerate of non-native speakers.
Translation apps: For additional help in following a presentation in a language in which you are not at home, you can also install a voice transcription app on your own device, like Microsoft Translator. It is free and available on both iOS and Google Play:
Please be aware that no app is perfect, and translation isn't an exact science. Sensitive topics, phrases, or ideas may not have an exact translation - and the app may not pick up on all speech perfectly. So please use any translation apps with caution and patience.
Additionally, always check that people speaking around you are comfortable with you using the app, as not everyone is comfortable with technology 'listening in'. Please turn off the translation history function in settings.
