Getting around the city

Buenos Aires has six metro (subway) lines and an extensive bus network. Each ride must be paid for individually, either on the bus or before entering the metro station. There are no daily or weekly passes. Payment by credit card is available.

Taxis are widely available on main streets, and Uber also operates throughout the city.

Traffic in Buenos Aires can be heavy, particularly during rush hours (8:00–10:00 am and 4:00–6:00 pm). If you are traveling by car or bus between different parts of the city, you should allow at least 30 minutes for the journey.
