This book presentation consists in a dialogue between the two authors, replicating the format of the book. It contains a caparison of memory politics and policies in Argentina and Peru, and confronts the current crisis of memory as a challenge for thinking about what has been done and can be done in the future. The authors, who have a long trajectory in civil rights movements, present an overview of two recent histories in memory politics, which, although very different, are today facing the same context of negationism, backlash and forgetfulness. The study focuses on the importance of generating cultural spaces of remembrance, and reflects on the specific characteristics that such spaces have had in both countries, drawing reflections on what has and has not worked in terms of keeping memory alive. It provides both theoretical reflections as well as as concrete proposals for cultural policies that put memory at the center.
