Description:
The former clandestine detention center known as "El Vesubio" operated between 1976 and 1978 in Buenos Aires Province. More than 1,500 men and women are believed to have been held there. The site was demolished in 1979 ahead of a visit by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. However, archaeological remains and documentary evidence have helped reconstruct its history. Today, El Vesubio is a Space of Memory dedicated to research, education, remembrance, and the promotion of human rights.
El ex centro clandestino de detención conocido como "El Vesubio" funcionó entre 1976 y 1978 en la provincia de Buenos Aires. Más de 1.500 hombres y mujeres estuvieron detenidos allí. El sitio fue demolido en 1979 ante la proximidad de la visita de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos. Sin embargo, restos arqueológicos y evidencia documental han ayudado a reconstruir su historia. Hoy en día, El Vesubio es un Espacio para la Memoria dedicado a la investigación, la educación, el recuerdo y la promoción de los derechos humanos
